So, on Tuesday the 9th of September, I officially graduated.
I'm now - "Gemma Benefer BA" - with my First in Media Production.
Wow that feels good! After those 3 years, to finally come out and have a first in a degree I loved and worked really hard for; It's one of the few times I've actually felt proud of myself.
I was also awarded the Best Radio Production Student from my year too, which was a real privilege. And it was such a beautiful day!
Not only was the sun shining, but everyone looked amazing and I couldn't escape from all the smiles and proud relatives. It was just so nice to see that those three years boiled down to that one day.
Walking into the cathedral and doing the whole handshake of receiving your degree was a little nerve-wracking, but I did it! All without falling over too - apart from slipping down the small ramp at the other side!
But hey ho - I'm waffling away!
There was no rest for the wicked as I was back at work the next day; But I'm so grateful to everyone who helped me through those three years and helped me get to where I am today.
A lot of my tutors told me that I wasn't lucky to land the job I've got now; They said I worked for it and made the most of the opportunities I had - and that's why I am where I am. I thought that was so kind - but I still but it down to a bit of luck on my side.
Just goes to show though that hard work does pay off!
Now I've just got to get used to a whole new way of life; I have new shifts to contend with, saving up for a house (not to mention a wedding!) and trying to fit a social life around my new working life.
It's all very new, a little daunting and definitely tiring - but I genuinely couldn't be more happier that everything's worked out. Finally :)
